We are Roslyn Code Club, a club at Roslyn High School that takes pride in teaching the new generation all about coding. Last year, we held our second 12-hour hackathon, Roslyn Local Hack Day 2019 with over 40 students. This year, we’re bringing it back with a bigger and better event.

Now dubbed Roslyn Code Overload, on March 7th, from 9am to 9pm, we will be hosting over 50 students from across the tri-state area. Students of various skill sets and coding levels will come together to collaborate intensively on various projects, ranging from websites to mobile apps, and compete for prizes.

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is best described as a coding and design marathon where teams come together to build a unique solution to a problem within 12 hours.

What if I'm a beginner?

That's okay! We'll have plenty of workshops and mentors that can teach you.

Who can attend?

All high school students are invited to attend, but must have an adult chaperone with them. See below for details.

How much does it cost?

Nothing! The event is free to all students thanks to Roslyn Code Club and our sponsors.

Do I need to prep for this?

Nope! Some show up with ideas in mind and teams formed while others don’t. We’ll have plenty of activities for you to form teams/ideas.

What should I bring?

You should bring your laptop, phone, chargers, and anything else you may need for your project.

Will there be prizes?

Absolutely! While winning is not the goal (it’s to learn!), there will be awards for the top teams.

Other questions?

If you have any other questions feel free to contact us at [email protected].

We invite all high school students to attend, but per school policy all non-Roslyn students must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. The chaperone can be either a teacher, parent, or other adult, but must be signed off by an administrator at the students’ school. A group of students from the same school needs only one chaperone as long as all the student names are listed on the registration sheet.

To Roslyn Students… You can register through this form.

To Non-Roslyn Students… If you are interested in attending, find an adult chaperone (teacher or parent) who can accompany you to the event. If you are inviting your teachers, you can send them this invitation letter from Roslyn Code Club. Once you find your chaperone, refer them to this webpage for further instructions.

To Non-Roslyn Teachers… Visit this page to see all steps for registering your students.
